Dear Sirs
We are three adults who are planning to visit Kathmandu and Lhasa. On 24 Aug afternoon we will arrive in Kathmandu with different flights arriving from Doha and muscat. How long will it take to get the Tibet ViSa if we make application in Kathmandu? Two of us will have the flight back to Italy on 31 Aug at 1645 via Doha while I will have to be in Seoul on 31 Aug. if I take one way to Lhasa from Kathmandu with a Tibet ViSa can I take air China flight from Lhasa to Seoul via Beijing ( I will not go back to Kathmandu)? In Beijing I will only change the flight. Or do I also need a visa for continental China?
Thanks a lot. Kind regards
Giuseppe

I am an Australian citizen and I am hoping to visit Tibet in October/November. If possible I would like to join a tour from Lhasa to different parts of Tibet and then to do some voluntary English teaching at a local college in Lhasa which is owned by a Tibetan. The owner is the friend of a Tibetan student who Is studying in Australia.  I know this Tibetan student and she would like to show me around Lhasa if that is possible. Please let me know how I can obtain permission to do this.
Thank you

Thanks for your inquiry this is Rex from Explore Tibet.

Permit application: Tibet Travel Permit
Tibet travel permit process takes around 18 days and we need 3 days to send you the permit in mainland China. We also need your passport and China visa copy for the permit application. Please send me clear photos or scan copies. If your China Visa is not an "L” visa then you must also provide additional documents such as student certificates work permits residence permits and so on.

Tour information: Tibet Group tours
Since you are two traveler I advise you to join the 8 days EBC exploration group tour . since it is cheaper. We have 1st 12th 19th 26th 31st in Oct and 7th 14th 21st in Nov. for you to join .

Cost is USD900 per person except 1st and 12th in Oct cost is USD960 if you can confirm booking 3 months in advance I can offer you 5% off.

For teaching at the college if you just experience in there for couple of hours that is okay we can arrange that for you but if one day or more days which will make it impossible. For your friend show you around Lhasa yes workable but all need to with guide.

So I advise that you can let her/him show you around Lhasa in the morning then in the afternoon go to the college for experience so only one day private tour needed which costs USD160.

Best regards

I am looking at your 10 days EBC group tour starting the 23 rd of April 2018.
I am a single traveler I want to know since there is nobody else booked for that tour yet if I have to wait for someone else to make a reservation before I can be certain that this tour will take place.
Is it also possible to add one more day to the tour?
Planning of flying the 3rd of May out of Lhasa to Chengdu and then Beijing and the next day to Canada.
How often is there flight cancellation or delay out of Lhasa at that time of year because of weather issue?
Thank you
Elise

Since you are a single traveler it’s a good option to choose to do a join tour as you can travel Tibet with more reasonable cost.

Usually if you book the tour before 95 days in advance then we guarantee the departure even you are the only on till last minute. If you book the tour less than 90 days then we cannot give guarantee departure and you might need to make changes. Another option if you book the tour less than 90 days is you can join another group tour starting on the same date and we have similar group tour like 8 days. I am sure this will be a great option as well.

Regarding the flight delays and cancellations it’s usually very less happening in May due to weather condition I should say around 18% gets delay and 5% cancellations due to weather condition.
Best Regards
Samdup (Your Trip Advisor)
