I am looking at your 10 days EBC group tour starting the 23 rd of April 2018.
I am a single traveler I want to know since there is nobody else booked for that tour yet if I have to wait for someone else to make a reservation before I can be certain that this tour will take place.
Is it also possible to add one more day to the tour?
Planning of flying the 3rd of May out of Lhasa to Chengdu and then Beijing and the next day to Canada.
How often is there flight cancellation or delay out of Lhasa at that time of year because of weather issue?
Thank you
Elise

Since you are a single traveler it’s a good option to choose to do a join tour as you can travel Tibet with more reasonable cost.

Usually if you book the tour before 95 days in advance then we guarantee the departure even you are the only on till last minute. If you book the tour less than 90 days then we cannot give guarantee departure and you might need to make changes. Another option if you book the tour less than 90 days is you can join another group tour starting on the same date and we have similar group tour like 8 days. I am sure this will be a great option as well.

Regarding the flight delays and cancellations it’s usually very less happening in May due to weather condition I should say around 18% gets delay and 5% cancellations due to weather condition.

Hi I am interested in doing a trip through Kham in the TAR in April or early May. From Lhasa traveling to Rawok on Hwy 318 and then looping back to Lhasa on Hwy 317. Is this possible at this time or are some parts of this area closed to foreigners? Thanks!
admin12-262017): Dear Chris Pitts

Tashi Delek (greetings) from Lhasa Tibet.

Thanks for your inquiry this is Samdup from Explore Tibet I am very happy to be your personal trip advisor I am a local born Tibetan and have been working in Tibet travel industry for more than 7 years as tour guide and 4 years as Trip Advisor I am confident that I can answer all the questions you may have based on my own experience and help you plan a memorable tour in my homeland.

Explore Tibet is one of the few Tibetan owned agencies based in Lhasa we practice Responsible travel by using local services and employ locals as much as possible. We use Tibetan drivers and tour guides for their strong Tibetan Cultural and religious background to make your travel unique and authentic.

First of all I would like to inform you that the Kham is not located in TAR region as it’s in Sichua province and you don’t need to travel there in a booked tirp. You can travel there freely and I am sure it will be cheaper too. Especially if you travel alone to Tibetan regions in TAR.

Secondly I am sure that some part is opened for foreigners where some are not you can visit areas around Ranwu lake (near Pashul) from TAR region and then you can extend your travel till Markham from Sichuan part. So if you want to do such trip then you need to do two different tours from Lhasa and from Chengdu.

Thirdly I can try with the special permit and see if you can extend your trip from Lhasa Pashul Chamdo Markham and Chengdu but I cannot guarantee. Please note that the best time to do such tour is from mid May and April is not a good time.

Hello there

My family is planning to visit Tibet in July 2018. My friend told me that the Potala Palace would not be open to all visitors start in January 2018. Is it true? If yes we need to plan a short trip to Tibet during Christmas 2017 which might be in a rush. Can we still visit the Pitala Palace next July? Thank you.

Regards
Ivy
admin12-262017): Dear Ivy
thank you for your inquiry.
No worries Potala palace is open in every month for international travelers. except for March.
Yes if coming to Tibet around Christmastiming is not enough. since we need at least 20 days to apply for the permits for you.

Kind Regards
Rex

Hey I would be interested in doing the 8 days Tibet Overland Tour to Nepal on May 17th. As I am by myself is it possible to book a single room occupancy and if yes how much is the supplement?
If I am entering Lhasa via plane from Kathmandu is it time enough for the permit if I arrive in Kathmandu on Sunday afternoon 12th of May?
Looking forward to your answers.
admin12-272017): Hi Mona
Thanks for your inquiry!

Tibet Group Visa:
Please note: if you plan to come to Tibet from Nepal you don't need to apply for Chinese visa all you need to do is to send us your passport scan or clear photo and we will apply for the Tibet travel permit here at the same time we will obtain the Tibet group visa invitation letter here and send it to our Nepalese agent then the agent will meet you at your arrival in Kathmandu and collect your passport to apply for the Group Visa which is compulsory for travelers entering Tibet from Nepal you will need to pay for the group visa fee and the agent’s service fee to the agent seperately this fee is not included in our tour cost. for the fee you can refer to this link http://www.exploretibet.com/visa-permits/ just for reference. Your schedule in Kathmandu should be like below:

Day 1: Arrival in KTM
Day 2: group visa apply (must be embassy working days)
Day 3 :group visa collection(must be embassy working days)
Day 4: obtain visa by 11:00 (must be embassy working days)
Day 5: fly to Lhasa
So you better arrive in Kathmandu on 11th May it you cannot I think arrive on 12th will be okay I can let our friend agent in Kathmandu to rush for Tibet group visa for you.

Best Regards
Rex
