Explore Tibet Announces Camping Trip

Explore-Tibet, a Lhasa-based tour company, has announced a 8-day camping trip to Yamdrok Lake.

Beginning in Lhasa, where visitors will visit prominent historical and religious sites, including Potala Palace and Jakhong Temple, the Tibet tour will continue into Western Tibet, where visitors will camp on the shores of Yamdrok Lake.

Surrounded by mountains and fed by numerous streams and Tibet hotels, the lake is one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet.

“You will be amazed by the breathtaking glimpse of the holy Yamdrok lake with its turquoise color and snow capped Mt. Nyenchen Khangsar in the distance,” Explore Tibet have said.

Visitors will camp in an open area next to the lake and adjacent to Palde village.

From the lake, the tour will continue toward Shigatse, passing on the way valleys, villages and Nyenchen Kangsar glacier.

Travellers will also visit Kumbum stupa and Palkhor Choede monastery.

Explore Tibet have said, “This magnificent multi-door structure is the largest stupa in Tibet. It is not only well known for its architecture but also its old sculptures and paintings all around its inner walls.”

Before returning to Lhasa, travellers will visit an incense factory at Nyimo, a region that for centuries has been well known for producing handmade incense.

Explore Tibet is a locally-owned travel agency committed to Tibet restaurants, Tibetan travel permit and sustainable practice.
