2012 Gaden Ngamcho festival in Lhasa
Gaden Ngamcho is also call as butter lamp festival; it is one of the important religious festivals among the Tibetans, it occurs on the 25th day of 10th Tibetan lunar calendar and it is observed as the day of Je Tsongka Chenpo Parinirvana, Tibetan celebrate it by offering butter lamps in the monasteries, temples, holy places and homes to venerate the mortal departure of great Buddhist master Je Tsongkapa, who was the founder of Gelug pa sect which is known as one of the major sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Both H H the Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama are Gelugpa sect followers. Every year hundreds of pilgrims gather around the Bakhor street in Lhasa to pay their homage and make circulation around the Jokhang temple
